Blah, blah, blog...... Musings

ALS, the great, evil perpetrator of physical deterioration casts a dense pall over and around the human psyche, effectively rendering the host incapable of resistance emotionally or otherwise. The mass majority of victims are convinced that their demise is inevitable, the timetable set, all horrors crystallized, identified and amortized, leaving nothing more than resignation, nothing less than a sense of futility. All hope, vanquished, deserts the soul, relinquishing influence, foisting despair. The trodden remain left to languish in depression. In most cases, the degeneration of the mind has been initiated, not by the disease but by the design of the diagnosis, a purely detrimental homily festooned with negative preparative suggestion, an amalgam of defeatist attitude laced with the arsenic of a finality predetermined by false statistical averages. An unfortunate necessity serves to confuse the process of healing, of regeneration. Communication and interaction with the standard bearers of medical opinion provide neither as they focus only on the processes of decline, coping mechanisms for such and the methodology of preparation for their vision of the inevitable. Thus, the perpetualization of negative concepts continues. As a result, we ALS sufferers must battle the disease on two fronts, one being the actual malady and the other, friendly fire salvos of predetermination and fatality lobbed upon us by those underinformed amongst us. The weight to bear likely collapses all resolve for most, certainly most resolve for all. I can only hope to find my way to the latter, ever manipulating for position, ever striving to discover the elusive path to health yet to be found by Western medicine.
