A question

Why? Why do people continue to read my posts? Is it now habit? Do readers harbor a compulsion? Has morbid curiosity morphed into a curiosity of the morbid? Do readers seek a conclusion of sorts? Do you believe I will survive this? Do you really believe I can regain my former literary form now that ALS has taken my hands and voice?Do those of you in Peoria wonder when I may visit? Do you realize that all conversation will be one sided? Did you ever expect to read a post comprised entirely of questions?

  1. Tracy, I guess I read your posts because they are an inspiration. I'm probably somewhat older than you, reasonably fit, but with the usual aches, joints etc. that come with age: but mobility, sight, hearing and voice. This might sound selfish, but you make me value what I have a hundredfold when I read your thoughts. I'm inspired by your courage and most important of all, your wonderful brain that still keeps computing your life, and your heart that continues to give you hope. My prayer is that your faith and hope will be rewarded - no matter where. And you have given so many of us an inestimable example of fortitude in the face of extreme challenge. You're the best.

    1. Isn't it amazing how our lives came together in crisis because of your caring for our family and you continue to inspire and breath life into us with your love and support. We never take for granted your generous spirit and kindness to us.
We look forward to hearing about YOUR adventures as well!

  2. In my case, I have come to find out that a lot of my blog readership are people who want to find out how I am doing, without having to see me or send me an email, so they don't have to interact with me. It's also a way of not having to face their guilt at never keeping in touch. I've thought of closing up my blog many times because I no longer want to provide this "service" to these cowards. However, I also meet perfect strangers who come across my blog and really enjoy reading it.

    1. Fern, doesn't it say something about you if people's interest in YOU continue to make them check in on you? If they didn't care they wouldn't subject themselves to the emotional riggers of your ALS journey. Don't underestimate your importance in the world. I'm sorry that you are not supported in the way you need or want. Keep expressing yourself. You never know who you are saving with your words.

  7. Tracy, I have never viewed you as a "morbid curiosity". That actually sounds a little stalkerish.......yes,that is a word. You are definitely an intense thinker, a man that is entirely too smart for his britches sometimes. haha That's something that I have always liked about you. You are also very well read. I love that about you as well. For a man that says he can no longer talk you don't seem to have a problem getting your point across when you have something you want to convey. Am I wrong? I don't think so. I have often read your posts and sat back trying to imagine what my mindset would be if I was in your place and I can't. I'm pretty sure I would be the one kicking and screaming sliding in sideways legs akimbo as long as I could. Either in my Jazzy or with road rash to beat the band until my body said differently. There would be no grace or dignity involved. I always love hearing from you and your family. Annnnd yes......We would love another visit from you and Amy.

  8. Because you make me laugh. Because you make me cry. Because i can't be there in person even though i want to. Because you and Amy will always be my friends. Because Utah is too far away. Because we care about you. Because you have never failed to inspire.

I can keep this up all day, but I think you get the point. :-)
